Stretch film
Stretch film recycling: back to original usage
Challenge
A major challenge in this particular application is that LD-PE and LLD-PE are often mixed together in retail logistics collection systems. In addition, labels with different adhesives are used, which can lead to contamination of the films. Furthermore, self-adhesive food film tends to form lumps of polymers that are difficult to separate and clean.
Solution
HydroDyn has developed a successful recycling solution for stretch film consisting of two thorough cleaning steps with special HydroCleaner tools. First, multilayer packaging is converted into single-layer flakes. The second step involves cleaning the material intensively. There is also a sizing step in between these two phases. The HydroCyclone system also removes cellulose from labels and other materials.
In a nutshell
the outstanding features of HydroDyn technology
Intelligent Control
This process enables precise, individually adjustable processes as well as the use of different cleaning tools and flexible control of solids content.
Smart Process Water
Separate water circuits, ultrafiltration and the HydroDyn firewall guarantee the outstanding purity of the recyclate. This minimises recontamination from process water and also reduces water loss.
Booster Drying
The classification of PET flakes and label films is carried out in a hot-air flow, which saves energy and minimises the development of fine particles through mechanical stress.
